Rhinoceros + Grasshopper

Introduction to Rhinoceros:

Rhinoceros 3D is a CAD software with a multitude of complex 3D modeling tools, which allow you to create unimaginable shapes with great precision and detail, whether from a drawing, a sketch or even a 3D scan. The software is compatible with most design, drafting, CAM, prototyping, rendering and illustration programs

  • Starting.

  • If you have experience with the AutoCad interface then it will be very easy to get started in rhino, but if not, the rhino interface and its use of tools can be a bit confusing, navigating its views can be a bit confusing, but as you do it you use it will be easier and easier

    First steps:

We will start with the design in Rhino by drawing the Space Needle Tower, for this we will use a photograph of the tower which we will use as a guide to draw the basic shapes

We can find the command menu at the top, in Rhino we can draw using commands or using the drawing tools located on the right. we can find the caps in the toolbox on the left, in rhino in the work area we find the views, top, perspective, front, and right, with right click we can move by panning in the views, we can also move using shift

For this exercise we will use an image of the Seatle tower, for this we search for an image in google, save it and simply drag it to rhino, We can separate the different parts of the drawing by creating layers and organizing them by colors

We are going to draw lines with the line drawing tool, once we have the first section ready we will select the lines and join them with the join command, and through the revolve command we will turn our first section through the central line, we can observe the result in the views

In the same way we can draw the entire contour of our drawing and we will apply the same commands to give it the shape, I will leave you a video tutorial of Ravs World Architecture, very complete on how to finish this drawing and carry it out step by step
