Group Assignment 2021
1. Stepper Motor NEMA17 (17HS4401)
We are going to measure the power consumption of the Engine that Hector used this week. It is a Nema17 stepper motor controlled by its ESP32 board (DRV8825 driver).
We first measure the voltage of the motor. This motor is powered by a 12 Vdc power supply.
Then we measure the ampere consumption of the motor, for this we have to open the circuit and put the multimeter (ammeter) in series. With the motor stopped the amp value = 0.009 amp.
When the motor is running, the consumption value in amps = 0.178 amp.
The electric power of the motor is P= VxA = (12v)(0.178) =2.136 W.
2. Electric Linear Actuator
We are going to measure the consumption of the linear actuator that Gustavo used in the final project (VR SCOOTER).
We first measure the voltage of the motor. This motor is powered by a 24 Vdc power supply..
Then we measure the ampere consumption of the motor, for this we have to open the circuit and put the multimeter (ammeter) in series. With the motor stopped the amp value = 0.003 amp.
When the motor is running, we measure the consumption when the platform descends only with the weight of the platform and the weight of the electric scooter, the consumption value in amps = 0.563 amp.
We measure when the platform rises only with the weight of the platform and the weight of the electric scooter, the consumption value in amps = 0.884 amps.
Now we measure by adding the weight of a user. The maximum value of the motor raising the platform is amps = 1,412 amps.
Finally we measure the engine consumption, adding the weight of a user and the platform going down. Value is 1,271 amp
In conclusion. The power consumption of the motor without load (platform + electric scooter).
Power lowering platform without load = 24V x 0.563 A = 13.512 w
Power up platform without load = 24V x 0.884 A = 21.216 w
The power consumption of the motor with load (platform + electric scooter + user).
Power lowering platform with load = 24V x 1.271 A = 30.50 w
Power up platform with load = 24V x 1.412 A = 33.88 w
