- design and 3D print an object (small, few cm3, limited by printer time)
that could not be made subtractively
- 3D scan an object (and optionally print it)
It is a machine allowing the creation of a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model, typically by laying down many thin layers of a material in succession.
I have chosen to draw the chain ring with SolidWorks. IT is not made substractive. I first made to sketch in 2D and it became in 3D, I continued in pattern mirror for copying the my drawing.
I opened my software and I choose 3D presentation and single design component.
After opening i select the plane, then i start to draw
i started to sketch the hexagon
Inside the hexagon I drew another hexagon with a small radius.
I extruded the hexagon I created a pocket on the side.
I mirrored the part I made to create a chain.
After making the real drawing i needed in solidworks, i saved in STL because I would like to convert in G-code using CURA ULTIMAKER software.
Here I saved the design in STL format.
This is the Ultimaker CURA software.
Our 3D printer read the G code made with the CURA ultimaker software
I loaded my in the 3D printer.
The filement i used is PLA
First I loaded the filament in the printer.
Then I launched the printing job.
This is the finished print.
Finaly the object look great.
