ABOUT ME:¶
Hello! I am Lesly Ramirez. I have a bachelor’s degree in architecture. I’m passionate about design, fascinated by kinetic sculptures and paper engineering, research about new materials and sustainability.
Fashion, film and animation, I am passionate about these arts and I really want to apply digital fabrication on them, it would be incredible.
One step at a time. I set a goal for myself to develop the skills proposed each week during the Fab Academy, prove to myself that I can and the most satisfying part, complete my final project.
Sometimes I tend to do different things, like climbing, it’s really liberating and it feels like being in heaven, so close to the clouds. I also like martial arts, although I haven’t practiced it for a long time, but you can see my kick attempt in the following pictures 🤣 and the mountains surrounding the place where I live ❤️.
My background¶
I was born in the city of Huacho, but I live in the countryside, in contact with nature and animals. My parents are involved in farming, so I grew up surrounded by different varieties of plants, like avocado trees, fruit trees and flowers. I was always half of the day in the city just to go to school and the other half at home in the countryside. During my childhood, in the village where I live, there was no electricity, but there were many books to read, that awakened my curiosity to learn about the things I read, the images I saw, imagining worlds and promising myself one day to make my ideas come true. I never imagined being an architect or a maker, the truth is I had never seen “design” as a job, but then I discovered that it made me very happy and here I am, Fab Academy 2022.
Previous work¶
I am an entrepreneur, I have my own virtual sales business. I have also been part of urban development projects in my city. I design costumes for audiovisual projects, I only learned through online pattern making courses and YouTube tutorials. When you want to learn something,only you set the limits. I make short videos and character design to be able to carry out audiovisual projects, I wish to enter a film and animation school or work directly, you never know what opportunities will present themselves first, but you always have to be prepared.
