The Decentralized Open Sourced Automated Farming System Kit (DOFS): My take on the future of farming! All the parts of the farm will be open sourced so that anyone with an internet connection and basic manufacturing tools or a FabLab near by can “download” a farm based on their growing needs/consumption or environmental factors.

Current farm specifications:

The current farm is an outdoor farm, which is fully modular and can be moved to different location if desired. It has automated watering via direct (the one in the picture below has direct watering) or indirect watering, with indirect watering you must water the end pipe once a week. The farm uses no electricity to power at all, the watering system uses capillary action to water each bucket. The farm is currently made by hand and basic workshop tools

Benefits to using this kind of System:
Relatively cheap
Reduced water consumption when compared to traditional farming
Increased yield times
Increased yield
Very minimal labor (We check our farm once a week for pests/harvesting/maintenance)
Scalable

Upgrades that I want to add/create during Fabacademy 2019:
Adding a PH Sensor to check water PH (I will integrate these in the pipe endcaps)
For the indirect watering systems adding a water level sensor
Converting the manual process to a digital process.
Making all the parts open sourced.
