Circuit Plotting Machine Using Conductive Ink (Agic)
Our aim is to implement conductive ink pens with CNC plotting machine to achieve rapid fabrication of flexible circuits, as the process of making such circuits using vinyl cutter takes a lot of time and mastery.
Designing Core XY system Enclosure
This is a typical Core XY mechanism from http://corexy.com/theory.html the design I referred to.
Mr.Tamiya (local instructor of Kamakura) made us a draft design of the enclosure. I tested the design, made some changes, cut the parts out with laser cutter and assembled it.
We laser-cut 5mm clear acrylic board to make enclosure for our Core XY system.
Brass shafts and linear bushes are from Monotaro: online retailer brand in Japan (Refer to the Bill of material at the bottom of this page).
This is the first prototype.
problem
X axis (horizontal) wobbles in the structure shown above.
solution
I added a collar to the Y axis on the left to support X axis with 3 points not 2.
To do that I had to lower the existing Y axis to avoid X axis conflicting with collars. The width of the whole enclosure is fixed due to the workspace size of the laser cutter at our lab (which is approx 300x600mm). I calculated the new height of the axis with drawing on Fusion360.
*(We ended up not using some of the parts in Ramps kit such as Arduino motor driver shield)
