Tierney Putman

I co-own a planning and design firm that is in the process of developing/repurposing two 1000-acre Conservation & Sustainable Communities. Each will have a CSA, organic restaurants, business incubator, education components (a Charter School and an Educ. Foundation), eco-tourism and, each will have a FabLab. I have a great deal of interest, as well as some experience with the "Fab House" system developed by Larry Sass, and hope to move it forward enough that residents of these conservation communities will be able to build their own habitable structures in the on-site FabLabs. In addition, the students in the Charter Schools will be able to get their STEM education using the FabLab software and equipment. My purpose for taking the HTMAA class, and the Fab Academy, is so that I will be able to teach-the-teachers the fundamentals of FabLabs as learning environments, as well as assisting "members" to fulfill their potentials as innovators, inventors, entrepreneurs, artists, etc.

Having been the Fablab Manager at Century College for a year, I have made the switch to the brand new, 5000sf. FabLab at Mahtomedi High School in White Bear Lake, MN. Here I will teach the class to both High School and Community students, as well as help to create a business model for FabLab sustainability. I can now be reached at: tierney.putman@mahtomedi.k12.mn.us and, as always, at: tierney@putmanplanninganddesign.com
