Back To Home
I have always been passionate about art and it is going to be incorporated into the use of our FabLab at the new STEM school where I will teach 4th grade this fall. I love to teach Art as well, so I'd like to do something for my final project that marries art with all of the skills I'm learning in FabAcademy.
I've chosen a piece of artwork that is special to me in a couple ways. This photo was taken the night of my wedding right outside the House of Blues which was the venue. Additionally, E. 4th Street is a favorite Cleveland attraction. If my students were to do this project at the elementary level, I would assign them to take photographs of building or sites that are lit up at night.
These sketches are just a rough plan of what I'm thinking of doing and I'm excited to see how I can incorporate various FabAcademy skills into the project.
New Final Project Idea
When my fellow teacher and I were enrolled in Fab Academy, our STEM consulting firm thought we would we would be a team, so we developed a final project together. I have since come up with my own alternate project..........a race track finish line that detects the time each racecar OR boat takes to complete the race and determine the winner. I teach young children, and a racetrack timing system would be so useful at our new STEM school that opens this fall.
Race Track Start And Finish Features
Consists of 5 boards possibly......2 with LED and 2 with phototransistors, 1 set of each for start/finish to detect the moment the car or boat passes by
2 structures that stretch across the "road" to hold boards and an LCD screen at the finish line
Structures may be made of thick vinyl and cut on the laser
I am a beginner at pretty much EVERYTHING in FAB Academy, so I'm still working on 3D CAD designing. I will be drawing this in Solid Works or AutoCAD soon as 3D!
