Introduction:
My name is Andy Moore. I am a professional educator and more maybe
importantly, a professional learner.
I started my career as a 3rd teacher in 1993, one of the most
exciting times in education. Personal computers had just started to
reach the classroom in widespread fashion and the internet was
emerging into the World Wide Web.
It became my passion to look for ways in which technology was adding
value to learning. After 4 years in the self-contained classroom, I
moved in to a professional development role helping teachers use
technology to enhance curriculum, while also helping the technology
department in implementation and support.
I continued in this role for 15 years, working with teachers from
our local district and from around the state of Ohio. I have taught
many college courses in the educational technology field and
annually run the Central Ohio Technology Summit which had hosted as
many a 300 teachers for a day long, open knowledge workshop sharing
ideas and strategies for utilizing technology to enhance curriculum.
Last year, I moved back into the 6th grade science classroom to
“test” the theories and practices that I have touted in my
professional development role.
I am extremely excited to take the deep dive into the FAB Lab idea
and philosophy. My expertise over the last 15 years have been
specifically tailored to the software realm. Combining software with
fabrication tools will undoubtedly open up many enhanced learning
opportunities for myself and my younger learners.
