A little about me...

Hi, I'm David and I am part of FabLab Manchester and Ellesmere Port in the North-West of England. Over the years I have had amazing jobs that have shaped who I am today and brought me here to FabLab.

After working as a chef for several years, I decided that I wanted to teach people how to cook so I gained my teaching qualification to teach secondary school Food Technology (posh name for cooking), from this I designed a set of courses to teach teachers the science of cooking. I helped teachers understand the science of baking cakes, making ice-cream and the science of flavour.

I then started on a course at my local college doing electrical installation (mains wiring) which then evolved into electrical engineering. Ultimately I gained a Extended Diploma in Engineering and in addition I was awarded 'Adult Learner of the year' award. I didn't stop my interest in cooking as I managed to sneak away to Naples for 14 days to learn how to make Neapolitan Pizza right in the restaurants. I plan on writing a book on it soon!

All this has led to here, whilst studying Engineering, I found my local FabLab in Ellesmere Port and I was hooked instantly. Here I could put all my skills into use. I could design things and then see a result in next to no time. I took the leap to join Fab Academy because I want to be part of a massive collective which share ideas and knowledge to improve everyones projects (like an educational borg collective!)
