principles and practices, project management
On the wednesday we met Neil Gershenfeld in a huge video confrence meeting (something only seen in the movies), and he had an introduction FabAcademy and Fablab. Although there were some hiccups with the technology of the confrence, it was a very interesting and inspiring. I must say that the sound of learning Mercurial was a bit daunting.
The big projects this week is to learn to use Mercurial the version control system we´ll be using. The big words this week were: Pull, upate, merge, commit then push. I looked at it at home at first, and read the first tutorials, but didn´t really get my head around it until Bas went over it with us. I found it helpful to take screenshot of my actions on Terminal, to come back to and use as a guide while I´m getting used to it. Another command I had to get used to using was :q
I decided to challenge myself a little and learn a bit of coding, through Dreamweaver. I made a website with Dreamweaver back in 2001, a long time has passed and a lot has changed. I started with doing some tutorials which I found on the Adobe website. They were a bit dry but did the trick. I did a few tutorials, and then decided to start from scratch on my own. I found it a little bit annoying to not have a complete visual control over the website. I might look into Adobe Muse, and redao the website. My site will be a work in progress, as this is something I want to take further.
