Fab Academy 2015

Fab Academy

How to Make Almost Anything...

Project Development

What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?

Since the project started in January I changed some things, the idea was to build a fully automated aquarium, but gradually I realized that this was a great challenge so I decided to divide the project into two parts a part of water quality control and lighting control leaving the part of automation for the near future.

What has worked? What hasn't?

All systems that have implemented work properly, although I must find some other device for controlling the current of the LEDs, it does not work too well and sometimes not regulate current properly, this can cause irreversible damage to the LEDs other systems work very well and I think it could be implemented without much effort the control system. In the coming months I want to start working toward a system that can add liquid to modify the characteristics of water.

What questions need to be resolved?

There are not many issues to resolve, short term I solve problems with lighting (this should not take too long) the hardest thing right now is how to make the contribution of liquids to modify the water, I still have to study what is the best alternative.

What will happen when?

This is an open, fully scalable projectI want to have fully functional aquarium end of the year, but I always find something more to add, so I really have no completion date.

What have your learned?

The Fab Academy for me has been a great experience where I learned many manufacturing techniques that I didn't know I have learned to handle different machines too but for me, the best is that I have recovered the desire to build things. In addition to what I learned it is what I lived, I met a new city and wonderful people that I think I can always call "friends" I will always remember and sure they will remember me.
