Computer-Aided Design
This week assignment was to sketch and model the final project in 2D design and 3D design. The idea was to learn as much as possible the new programs and become more familiar with them.
I already have experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, 3dmax and AutoCAD but I choose to learn and get more familiar with Gimp, Inkscape , Blender and Rhino to shape and model my final project. It took me some time to get used to the new tool-sets but I started with a simple shape, The module 1 of the light fixture. These renders are just experiments and are not to scale, but I am still trying to manage the shapes and the details day by day.
I downloaded first blender, an open source 3D graphics and animation software. I started to model and get to know more the commands.
Here are two tutorials that I found pratical and clear:
Then, I tried Rhino which I felt it was like a mix of sketchup and Autocad and it was easier to work with as I already have some experience with the two other programs. I think I will continue to model my final project with Rhino.
