What will it to ?

Open Bicycle

Open Bicycle is Programmable DIY bicycle. It has Fabduino and all the instructions are open, so everybody can make their own bicycle. Every users who made ‘Open Bicycle’ can customize With Fabduino.

And also in my final idea I will make internet sharing platform like ‘Thingiverse’, Participants can share their own DIY parts like actuators, sensors and add on modules.

Who’s done what beforehand

Evo Utility Bicycle (www.evoutilitybike.com)

It is a Modular Bicycle, It has a same structure for add on modules in front of the bicycle and rear either.

Especially, they made using metal 3D Printer for making complex structures. So they could make very efficiency structure for add on modules.

 

ROOTLESS (www.rootless.tk)

Rootless is made with wood, in case of main frame, is fabricated with digital fabrication machine(CNC Router), CAD Modeling files(for making bicycle body) and instructions are opened on the internet, So, everybody can make their own bicycle easily.

Helios (www.ridehelios.com)

Helios Handle bar has Bluetooth and GPS Sensor, if you change your handle bar to Helios, You can add brain into your bicycle. Using Bluetooth wireless technology, can acces your smart phone and control head light and rear LED easily. And Using GPS Sensor , users can recognize their bicycle’s location and speed.

What parts and systems will be made ?

Bicycle mainframe (Laser Cutting, Composites)

What processes will be used ?

    - Computer-controlled cutting

For making main body, laser cut wood sheet layer by layer.

    - Electronics production

Redesign fabduino and Control LED array, LED strip, that will be installed in main body of bicycle.

Fabricate timing belt gear

Make 3-axis accelerometer, Button switch

What tasks need to be completed ?

Composites : For making left and right frame, Do composition with acryl and wood sheet. For plant LED strip into frame body, cut a center of acryl and wood sheet.

CNC : for plant front fork and Seat post, mill an wood with CNC Router

Electronics : Redesign Fabduino for reducing useless pin, and network with various sensors(GPS, LED Strip, LED array..)

How could I control LED strip when I grab brake(bend a flex sensor)?
How to plant LED strip between wooden sheets?
How to bend a wood?

What is the schedule ?

How will it be evaluated ?

Has the bicycle been designed with correct parameter?
