CAD Modeling

The design can be split into following modules, each of the modules needs to be designed separately

I use parametric modeling for CAD, I have been using Creo from some time for modeling. To learn a new modeling I have used direct modeling module of creo which is combination of parametric and direct modeling.

I have designed a basic embodiment for my project. To make the embodiment in CAD, I started with small boxes and joined them together to get right overall dimensions.

I discovered a new feature in Creo, while working on assemblies which involved multiple parts with dependencies, one can select each part in the file tree and by activating one particular part, only that part can be activated while still seeing the rest of the assembly.

The device designed is in a shape of a elongated universal plug. One end comprises of a regular plug and the timer unit, it is connected to the socket unit with the help of two guide shafts. The socket unit moves along the guide rods making the connections and disconnecting the socket unit to the plug unit. It is compressed against springs and is held in a compressed position with the help of a clip lock mechanism which I have not decided upon. I made the model in Creo and then imported into Keyshots for renderings. Both renderings are presented below.
