Assignment: design, make, and document a press-fit construction kit
Laser cutters work by directing a very powerful laser beam, at a precise focal length, onto a material which they either cut or etch, depending on how the laser cutter has been set up. Laser cutters cut materials similarly to other computer controlled tools, only they do so using a beam of light as opposed to a blade. When laser cutters are set up to etch something on the surface of a material, they operate like a printer, literally using their laser beam to etch an image onto something.
Unfortunately I haven't enough time to design models by myself that is why I take models from this site
First of all I upload the file to the special program RDCAM for our laser cutter
The laser cutter must be focused before use. This is done using the wooden stick sized as focus. After that chose the cutting mode. I took 4 mm plywood. I need only cut it and not etch. Cutting regime is shown at the picture.
As a result - wooden cube. It was my mistake that I took plywood for this model. It is too breakable. It will be better to usу paperboard.
In my final project I use laser cutter for cutting body of selfie robot.
I try to think about everything: every hole to put to each place.
