    Composites

For that week assigmnent we should do some composite work,
so I decided to test this beautiful technique by doing simple shape.

    Preparations - wood template

I design the shape using "shopbot" software.
I used MDF 30 mm thickness and set the crop arae to 14 cm^2.
VShape 60 Degrees bit were used for interior milling and for 6.4 mm Diameter drill for cut.

    Preparations - Fabric cut

I used an old drees ( not of my wife :) and cut it using the laser.

    Preparations - resin epoxy

To do this assigmnent we need to use resin epoxy,
that allow us to modife the fabric to the wood template. The materials we used are

and we neet to mix them as it shown 10:3

    The process

    Layers:
    1. Plastic foil - for a glossy finish.
    2. The Fabric (3-4) layers.
    3. Fiberglass -
    4. Cotton cloth - for soaking the access epoxy.
After that all the layers were putted on the wood - I inserted them to vacuum bag.
The vacuum bag keep the shpe Uptight.

    The result

I liked that technique because it allows to fit models to shapes.

One intersting and beautiful project you can find here.

    Conclusions

    - Be carfull when you use the Cimical meatirials - it can harm your health
    - make sure that all you need is available.
    - Read the instructions carefully.
    - Don't use a lot of resin epoxy when you anoint the fabric - it can make it weak.
    - ENJOY !!!
