On my final project I want to build a medical system device that help paralyzed limbs, similar to the systems that already in the market:
NESS-L300 or
WalkAide.
The reason that prompted me to choose this project is emotional - my little brother got a stroke when he was 19 years old.
Since then he has been paralyzed in the right body side.
This system can help him stabilizing and improving his walk as well as having a more natural look and fast walk.
This device has 3 units:
1. Control unit.
2. Foot stepping sensor unit.
3. Pulse unit.
The control unit isn't involved at the current procedure. It only controlled at the pulse rate and powerful.
The main process occurs when a stepping was done.
When it detect by the pulse unit, it send pulse to the nerve that involved at the walking process and causes the foot to do the right movement.
NESS L300 system has two main limitations which I will try to solve in this project:
1.Convenience - existing equipment is built in a coordinated manner to any person and it has a Velcro to fit it to the person, and as a result, the system will not always convenient to everyone ( based on my little brother experience).
2. Cost - Individual unit price is a little over 7000 dollars, this high price makes it difficult for people who cannot afford it, buy a medical equipment that is so necessary for them to daily function.
