About Me:
My name is Nezar Ahmadi. I studied Architecture at Manchester School of Architecture where I got my Bachelor Degree, and Engineering Management at George Washington University where I got my Masters Degree. Currently I work in a real estate investment company in Bahrain called Edamah.
I was interested in the applications of digital fabrication in architecture, and was researching the topic as a graduation project for my masters when I came across the Fab Lab concept. My research developed to a study on the feasibility of launching a Fab Lab in Bahrain, where I interviewed many scholars and professionals in the field. I came across a group of friends who happen to share the same enthusiasm in creating and making stuff, and together we decided to launch Fab Lab Bahrain.
I am fairly new to programming/web developing so excuse me if my site is very basic for the time being. Hopefully by the end of this course it will look better.
My Project:
The project that I have in mind is to design and build a foldable kayak. I love the sea and all kinds of watersports. I sail, dive, fish, and even have a kayak of my own. Unfortunately, I have no where to store my kayak but home, which is far away from the sea, and have no means of transporting my kayak to the beach. So I depend on a friend, who is extremely moody when it comes to kayaking, who has a truck that fits both of our kayaks. As a result, I thought wouldn't it be great if I could have a foldable kayak that fits in the trunk of any ordinary car? As I googled "foldable kayaks", I cam across several different types and version, and decided to come up with a foldable kayak of my own.
