In this assignment I am going to design the mechanical part of my final project Tapulley_the tape dispenser.
PHASE 1:
The inner parts that consists of Drums and gears and will guid the tape while rolling by the motos
First I designed the gears in 2D then to have a prespective of how will it work i decided to pull up all the flat gears to have a 3D view and be able to stack the parts together on Sketch Up.
PHASE2:
The support/ body of the mechanism
I thought how am I going to hold these gears and drums together for them to be able to turn in stable and smooth way.
As shown below, the rectangular plates are the body of the mechanism that supports and includes areas to hold the gears and drums in a way that keeps them loose in turning and
fixed in place.
PHASE 3:
Putting it all together
After all the parts are fixed in place it is now time to make adjustments for them to function properly.
Below you can see after i placed the tape and the two sides of the body.
Laser Cutting
Now it is time to cut the parts!
Here are the drums after cut and put together using polyfast chemical, a chemical that blends plastics together.

Machine in real life
Using polyfast and more screws and nuts, I put the parts all together and here you we go!
