I recently became a Grand-father, to a beautiful baby girl named Addie. I want to build her a toy box, but not any toy box. I want to build her a toy box, that when she gets about 3 or 4 feet from it, it will automatically open. I also want to have so 3D print images on the box that will light up when the box opens.

I want the toy box to be 2 feet wide, 3 feet long, and 18 inches high. I will need some kind of proximity sensor, which will activate some kind of drive motors to lift the cover of the toy box. I also want to have some inlay-ed translucent cut outs of her name, with LED's the light up. I would like to have some translucent 3D printed animals, that will light up also, mounted on the front and maybe sides of the toy box.

I will need to be able to shut the box off when my grand-daughter is not around. I think using an Arduino to control it all, should be possible. I am going to have to keep safety in mind so the toy box will not hurt Addie.
