Invention, Intellectual property, and Income

This week the assignment was about invention, intellectual property and income. The idea behind this exercise was to develop a plan for dissemination of your final project. Basically how do you perceive this project. What are you going to do with this project? Are you developing it further? Is it going to be an open source or open hardware or both? Invention
During this fabacademy, i have been focusing mainly on the technical challenges, since it my first step into electronics. My final project is related to the fields of quad-copters and automatic control. The idea also consists of making it open source and simplify the whole fabrication and assembly process. fabDrone can be divided in two parts, first is the software programming and the second part is the hardware like fabIMU (electronic board) and the frame structure which i made out of laser cutting the Plywood. In the near future, there are several fields in which the use of robots can be beneficial in order to complete tasks with precise timing or position requirements that are complex, or that are to be carried out in hostile environments and now a days it has been being explored for the Areal Robotic Construction Techniques, Transportation and also for the Photography and Video recording. Specifically, the development of quad-copters has generated great interest in the automatic control area. but its still not easy to make it by yourself and there is a community which are working on it to make it open source. The main invention of my project is not only about the technical approach, but more about the fabrication process and also assembly. Most of the sensors, i have been using are already exist in the market with affordable prices. Since i have been using all the open source hardware and software, to make the fabDrone, i am going to make it open source, so that others can have an access to all the files and everyone can make the fabDrone by themselves in the fablab and improvise it further. I think this is one of the best way to generate the forum about your project and develop it further. But i see the development of this project in a collaborative way, doing workshops and also i plan to present this project in events like maker fair, open design, etc. This work may be reproduced, modified, distributed, performed, and displayed for any purpose, but must acknowledge "project name". Intellectual properties
The research project focuses on proposing a theoretical and experimental framework to develop a complete autonomous air vehicle system capable to take off, fly, and explore an unknown indoor-outdoor environment and landing. The idea behind this project and its further development after Fab Academy is mostly social and academic. Social because it will be open source and there will be a community of people contributing and improving it. Academic because it will help students to understand the concepts of it. Income
The idea of the income doesn’t make sense here, in my as case as i am making it open source, so that everyone will be able to download the design and the code for free and make or modify their own units locally. Basically the design and software are accessible for everyone, and then sell the support services. As i said, the project is open source, both hardware and software, there will be no income coming from it. As this project still at the basic level and there are millions of drone available in the market with different functionality, and no one would like to spend money on it if i sell this right now as a kit, until and unless i make the drone as complete autonomous air vehicle system. Once i achieve this, what i am saying, one of the possibilities to fund the project is to put it on crowd funding platform.
