Invention:
As a summary, the project consists of three parts:Design
Hardware
Programming
The programming of the project was aided by open source code. The project and all its files will be available on several websites including my Fab Academy website, my personal website,my personal accounts in Dropbox and Github. The project files will be open source, available to the public to download, tweak and further develop.
Intellectual Property:
The project will gain an Open Source Hardware and Software Licensed under MIT License.
I chose this license because it permits the user to use, copy, modify, merge, publish distribute, sublicensee, and/or sell copies of the project easily and clearly. The user requirements can be found "here" .
Income:
The idea of making window shutters came out of need. I believe that sharing the documents of the project will be a great chance for me to be more indulged with the makers scene, and hopefully will open more doors for me in the digital fabrication industry on a professional level. However, I would like to develop and optimize the project further, to make it even easier to fabricate and assemble, and economize with the material even more. This way I would have a more robust and sellable product with an edge, which is affordable to all layers of the society, rich or poor.
What I've Learned:
As discussed before, my plan is to continue developing the window shutters after the course ends. In addition, I hope to develop my furniture and mechanical design, to experiment with more living furniture that could potentially provide the user with a more comfortable and amusing internal environment.
