Habtamu's Fab World 2013

Our this week assignment was press fit construction I think it is somehow artistic and fun.For the designers and artists like me, it has high relevance to make different models and other things.For me it was totally new experience so, to do it first I went to Illustrator software and start to draw my sketchs.In doing the drawing, every dimension and fit part need to take in to account.But before I tried my design I went online and started to search some DXF files just to see something new. Fortunately I got a DXF file of Dinosarous so I dumped it and opened it with Illustrator CS5 then I edited the cut out and fit parts suitablely by taking in to account of my 3mm acrylic.

Then time to come back to my original design. Here, I wanted to make some kind of structure which will be for different purposes. After I studied some sketchs on a piece of paper I chose which I thought the best and made it on Illustrator CS5. Since I am going to use 3mm acrylic,I made the fit(cut out) parts 2.5mm to fit each other. I did this because I knew the laser bim itself will take some tolerance during cutting then I sent the file in to the laser cutter machine by making the speed 10 and power 100.
