D laser cutting week, I thought of a 3d puzzle, where units are fabricated
  then the user
can apply them differently I preferred tessellating over sectioning as it's more creative
yet can give you more than one out put.
I picked this self-growing grid to start with for the first time.

        - First I did the drawing using Auto-CAD 2D, for a single unit the opening dimension were
made according to the used material thickness
6.5 so i made the opening a bit smaller to get a
tight
  joints.

-Then i connected my laptop to the Epilog Laser Cutting machine, and started printing this grid, on 6.5mm thick cardboard

-I have to admit my drawings weren't neat enough, they had double lines so the machine cut the same line more than once
which burnt the cardboard at some edges. "TIP : while laser printing if there's a controllable fire, leave it, it will fade out, if not you
have to stop the
machine turn off the fire and then proceed, to avoid total loss" bottom line !

NO DOUBLE LINES

NO HARD FEELINGS
