I am an architect graduated in the Madrid school of architecture (ETSAM) in the year 2005. I also studied one year in the IIT Illinois Institute of Technology in the school of architecture as an international student, back in 2003. When I finished my degree I studied animation an postproduction in digital media. And in 2005 I made the animation short film called "God´s away on business": From 2005 till 2010 I´ve been working in Cloud9 architects office , as the project leader of Media-ICT building wich has received several international prices. I leave you here a representative picture of the building,
nice eh??, if someone is interested and wants to know more about it, don´t hesitate to ask, because I spent a lot of time with it and it is nice to share it. This project shows a couple of things I am very interested in: PERFORMATIVE ARCHITECTURE and GENERATIVE DRAWINGS based in code. Both concepts are used in this project as the facade is made out of inflatable cushions built with ETFE ,kind of plastic; and they change their transparency depending on the solar radiation they receive. Also the resulting geometry comes from combining the stress analysis of the structure to wind loads and the size of the cushions, resulting in a parametric model with the result that you can see, this tringulated grid. We also made this book with ACTAR about the project, where I deeply participated with the contents, here you have some pics of the final result:
Right now I work as a free-lance in the field of architecture, but also I am studying programming, for its use in interaction design and generative drawings. I leave here a couple of links of on going proyects I am involved right now. One is called METAOCCUPATION , wich explores the invention of new media facade concepts for dissent, this was submitted for MAB 2012 Media Architecture Biennale. The other one is ORIGA.ME From Bits to paper digital crafting I also love music and I am enrolled in BEFACO a DIY modular synths group, where we build our own modular synthesizers.
