For this assignment I decided to do a Ford fiesta. First, I downloaded a 3D model of the ford fiesta
Then, In blender, I did a Boolean operation between a cube and the fiesta in order to obtain the negative. I also added 3 holes for alignment and attachment of the stacks, the third hole in trunk of the car is for material feed
After, I imported the STL with 123 make and create stacked slices.
Next, a screenshot from the assembly steps in 123Make:
The red pieces in the botom right of the PDF are for making the rims. We didnt used them.
2 pieces after cutting with laser.
We decided to use wax. The challenge with wax is that it shrinks when it solidify, and so we decided to insert the wax with an open side instead of the hole. Next, a picture of 3/4 of the stacks with melted wax in it and in the right the melted wax.
The last stack filled
The next day, notice the hole in the midle
Bottom stack removed
Several stack removed, impossible to salvage the wheels and so we decided to use the wood wheel (leftover from laser cutting)
And this is the final piece
