17. Invention, intellectual property, and income
This project's purpose was to demonstrate skills that I have and have learned during Fab Academy. From the start it was clear that this project's value is in the challenges inherent to its design and the process of overcoming those challenges.
That being said, there is no business here.
Dissemination
To make the project available for anyone who could be interested in it the project and it's source files will be openly available.
I could think of the only usecases to be educational, and therefore this novel project could be in the door of a Fab Lab for example. It would be easy to just make one and leave it at a Fab Lab, but to get it to spread to other Fab Labs would need a level of enthusiastic "marketing" to convince a person to make it in their lab. I am satisfied with the presentation and the documentation bringing enough attention to the project.
However, before that I think the project would need some polish. If someone would take this project to be used for education, I would highly recommend taking a look at this section as there I have gone through things that could be improved. In my opinion the best idea would be to use this project as is as an example, but build on it either by following those recommendations or adding/modifying something new to it. For example, making this an IoT doorbell would make the most sense, as the non-destructive mounting doesn't require any holes for screws or wires.
