17. Invention, Intellectual Property, and Income¶
Dissemination Plan¶
This project originally started with the OpenAR project at the University of Eastern Finland, and now is being done in collaboration with the University of Oulu.
My current project (Thumb Controller) requires further sophistication, i.e. thumb controllers should be able to perform all 3D interactions in order to become a viable replacement for hand controllers as found in Oculus Quest 2 headsets. Currently, it is only performing 2D interactions like rotating the object.
Once 3D interaction is achieved, the plan is to seek further support from European Media and Immersion Lab to hire master students to pursue this project as an academic research project at the University of Oulu. The project dissemination will be done by making results available on OpenAR project site. Furthermore, it will also provide master thesis topics to students at the Univesity of Oulu. The project will be always open source, and there is no commercial for-profit plan made as of now.
