About me

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oulu, working broadly in the following areas from software-hardware co-integration angle:

1) Extended Reality 2) Internet of Things 3) Environmental Sensing 4) Wireless Sensor Network

I am also interested in exploring how ICT can aid in achieving UN SGD goals, in particular goals of clean energy, clime action, sustainable cities and communities and quality education.

I also teach two courses: Internet of Things and Distributed Systems at the University of Oulu.

Background

Prior to moving to Oulu for my postdoctoral stint, I was a Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki from 08 Feb 2018 to 07 Feb 2022. During my PhD, I worked primarily in the areas of Pervasive Computing and Multimedia Computing with a special focus on privacy and robustness. I defended my PhD thesis titled Towards Trustworthy Ubiquitous Computing: Bringing Privacy and Robustness to Computing in Context on 20 December 2022 at the University of Helsinki.

Why am I doing Fab Academy?

I have worked in software development for years, and I always wanted to learn hardware development, and how to design my own custom-printed circuit boards. Having this knowledge would allow me to pursue a wide range of research within the Internet of Things, especially designing experiments which can be deployed in the wild. Previously I used to work with breadboards which are good for laboratory experiments but not for deployment in the wild.
