About Me Weekly Assignments Final Project Student Agreement

Invention, Intellectual Property, and Income

I am making an essential oil diffuser that takes input from a hygrometer and keeps the humidity at a level determined by the user in a GUI.

Dissemination

There are several types of licenses available for individuals wo create a product. Some allow others to reproduce, sell, and adapt and redesign your invention, with the stipulation that they must credit the original creator. This is the one I plan on using. Other types of licenses permit different things. Some allow your work to be recreated only noncommercially, others allow for commercial use so long as the creator is credited. An individual can choose a license type based on their future marketing and development plans for their product, as well as how comfortable they are sharing and distributing their work.

My final project is both practical and of interest to anyone who uses essential oil diffusers regularly.

However, I am creating my project for my own personal use, not to sell as a product.

Because of this, I plan to make all of my designs free and open source.

Here is a link to the license summary on Creative Commons that I choose to implement.

This states that users are free to share and adapt my project, even for commercial purposes.

However, if they choose to do so, they must provide appropriate credit and share a link to my designs.

Future Plans

I am making this project primarily for my own personal use. I don't plan on selling, distributing, or making any money off of my Final Project.

If anyone is interested in using my designs or expanding upon and imporving my design, they are more than welcome to do so.
