In this assignment I have to:
* Design and produce something with a digital fabrication process (incorporating computer-aided design and manufacturing) not covered in
another assignment, documenting the requirements that your assignment meets, and including everything necessary to reproduce it.
In this assignment there are many machine and techniques may be used. After some search I choose Plasma cutter for this assignment, because
of frequent use and spread in my city. Other reason that I like hand crafts and iron manufacturing is one of them.
What is Plasma Cutting?
Plasma Cutting is a profile cutting technique which can cut through any conductive metal. This includes metals like steel, aluminium,
brass, titanium and copper - both thick or thin.
It works by passing a super fast jet of hot plasma through conductive metals to cut through it.
Using Plasma Cutter:
We don't have a Plasma cutter in FabLab Libya so I contacted with a friend that has one in his workshop.
He has a Plasma Cutter with controller type: starfire.
Using Plasma Cutter is verysimple. There are many softwares to generate the G-code for it. In this assignment I used Vectric Aspire software to draw and generate G-code.
After Saving the file with forma (.nc), use a USB flash to store the design in the machine. The design appears on controller screen.
After adjust the XY axises of the machine and start.
After ending the cut:
