1. Principles and practices¶
The Plan of the final project revealed:
HAPTILE - ⠓⠁⠏⠞⠊⠇⠑¶
Haptic dioramas for the visually impaired.
(Greek: haptόs “palpable”, haptikόs “suitable for touch”)
Haptile is an interactive haptic diorama which serves as a platform for the visually impaired people to explore their ability “to grasp something”; a tactile experience to bridge them with reality through scale.
Haptile consists of a set of three dimensional topography models featuring cultural heritage monuments and their surrounding area in scale paired with an embedded interactive function which provides haptic and audio information for the monument and the flora and fauna of the region.
