16. Applications and Implications¶
Final Days in the Academy count Down !!!
It makes sense to be able to describe my project by now and makes more sense to document these info as a guidence while I build up my Final project .
My Project is ” Catopia” Where Meow & his loyal carer can both be happy .
What will it do ?¶
It is a mixture or a Cat tree + Cat feeder + Health monitor
It should be a comfy place for the cat to spend time sleeping , Watching , Judging from above and eating .
Also a good tracker for the cat’s owner to track its behaviour of eating or visiting toilet .
What’s already there ?¶
All previous projects were about cat feeding systems , that actually were very intresting :
A cat feeder which measures the weight of the food served + A laser to Entertain the cat .
A selective cat feeder that allows one cat to eat and closes for the other cat
A cat feeder based on a timer to despence food
And of course a bunch of great Cat tree houses , with no other function other that cats’ play area .
What will I design ?¶
I will design a cat tree house with places to implement tools for extra functions , such as a food despencer and a sensor to track cat’s visits .
Maybe add a measuring tool to know how much the cat has eaten and an LCD to disply info .

What will be made ? Process ?¶
The Cat tree structure : CNC Milled , MDF wood .
Feeding system : 3D printed , PLA .
Controlling Boards : CNC Milled , manually soldered and programmed .

How do I design and manufature the cat tree ?
How to design and manufacture the feeder system ?
How do I program the feeder to despence ?
How do I sense when cat enters a specific area ?
How do I record and disply these visits count ?
Crazy cat lady : How do cats think ?
Evaluation ?¶
Most important : Will cats , especially my Bumba , love it and use it ?
Will the owner be helped ? especially in monitoring his cat’s behaviour ?
Is it easy to be setup and function as intended ?
