L.O. (Learning Objectives) Week 3:¶ ¶ • Demonstrate and describe parametric 2D modelling processes • Identify and explain processes involved in using the laser cutter. • Develop, evaluate and construct the parametric construction kit • Identify and explain processes involved in using the vinyl cutter. 3.0. Notes during the class and workshops:FABLAB¶ Class Note 3.1. Link to the group assignment page:¶ To see this "group assignment" part, please click here 3.2. Explain how you parametrically designed your files:¶ Parametric Design for Vinyl Cutting: 1. Designed a symbol (sticker) in Adobe Illustrator. 2. Saved the file as ".dxf". Parametric Design for Laser Cutting: 1. Designed in Fusion 360. 2. Saved the file as ".dxf". 3. Opened the file in Illustrator. 4. Saved the file as a ".ai". 3.3. Document how you made your press-fit kit:¶ 1. Turned on the laser cutter machine. 2. Put the cardboard on the machine bed. 3. Taped it to the machine bed to fix the location of the material. 4. Meausred the height 5. Turned on the vacuum absorber. 6. Open the "ai" file on the software used for the laser cutting 7. Change the setting on the software for the laser cutter. (e.g. color of the line to be cut (green or blue usually)) 3.4. Document how you made your vinyl cutting:¶ 1. Turned on the vinyl cutter machine (cutter plotter). 2. Turned on the vacuum absorber. 3. Put the material that i'd use for the vinyl cutting on the machine bed. 4. Used the plastic tape to fix the location of the material on the machine bed. 5. Set the origin (or starting point). 6. Tested a few times to find the ultimate power & speed for the material (and design) that I used. 3.5. Include your original design file:¶ Vinyl Cut: ai Laser Cut: 3df 3.6. Include your hero shots:¶ 3.7. Design-thinking (wk3 recitation):¶ Recitation Note
