After talking about different types of intellectual property and the advantages/disadvantages of patenting an invention/design, we were asked to come up with a dissemination plan for our final project.
I explored Creative Commons and looked at their different licensing options. It's a nonprofit organization "dedicated to building a globally-accessible public commons of knowledge and culture". They offer several licensing options like non-commercial use and Attributiion, No Derivative..etc.
Dissmination Ideas
The main goal of my project is to help tinkerers and students put together something they can use at home. So a non-commercial license for my project would be appropriate. I have not licensed anything at the time of writing this documentations, however, upon completion of the project, I plan on licensing it for non-commercial use and offering the plans (CAD , circuit diagram, code, parts list..etd) for free on a platform like GitHub or Instuctables. Another Idea that came to mind is to license the project to an education business. The spicific idea i had in mind is to licesne it to a subscription based crafts company (KiwiCo in mind). This way they can prepare the parts and send it to their subscribers to learn about electronics and produce a little device they can use.
