We have not yet been able to access the FabLab, nor the corresponding equipment to carry out the physical practices, which in my case are very necessary since it is not the same as simulating situations with characteristics given by default.
For this assignment, since they were delayed in the weekly planning and the arrival of the quarantine by COVID-19, it has not been possible to carry out what was proposed on the scheduled date.
We have not yet been able to access the FabLab, nor the corresponding equipment to carry out the physical practices, which in my case are very necessary since it is not the same as simulating situations with characteristics given by default.
As I have confessed before, these new disciplines are not my strength and to top it off I had not even heard them before, therefore, I am still trying to understand many things and this situation has not been easy for me.
From the class with Neil, I heard that Processing is one of the softwares that contains a language and a comfortable environment to work with, so here we go... With the local instructor we had a class in which we were shown a project already completed that we could follow, However, there is nothing in this world that serves us better than to do and try with a step-by-step guide.
In this case and trying to save time, I have been guided by a tutorial, combining the ultrasonic sensor used in week 9 and adding a servo motor that I just received (16-5-20) and that will be great resources if I can try its function from now on for my final project; I will do it using Arduino Uno as a platform to simulate the connections of the components with the own pcb due to the lack of access to the FabLab and to be able to manufacture the pcb that I have designed in previous weeks.
I had to do a good practice of trial and error to begin to understand the operation of the two applications and especially because I was guided by a video tutorial where his writing changed a little with what I was getting used to, just to have a little of experience with something new. The guide code came with some errors, but it can be solved with the help of the same software. After this I started to fiddle with the language to adapt it to what I think I need.
To continue this assignment, I have the parts list to use and move my assignments forward until I can build my pcb:
The ultimate goal of this assignment is to design and program an output device, in our case a servo motor and I will add an ultrasonic sensor to it because I am preparing for my final project where the sensor can make the servo move.
In this case take an example shown on the web and first try to understand the connection of components, part of the arduino code already had it from previous weeks of playing with the ultrasonic sensor and the servo motr separately; In this case I saw some video tutorials to understand how to work from Arduino to Processing.
During the execution of the Processing code, as I mentioned before, I had some problems, but after analyzing the written lines of code I was able to understand how the two programs work at the same time.
One of the things that caused me the most inconvenience was the fact that it was explained that Arduino and its Serial Monitor had to be open at the same time as Processing and the simulation window, however, it sent me an error with the connection port, after Analyzing the situation I realized that the Arduino Serial Monitor window should not be on and it turned out that I could finally see the simulation I was expecting in action.
We have not yet been able to access the FabLab, nor the corresponding equipment to carry out the physical practices, which in my case are very necessary since it is not the same as simulating situations with characteristics given by default.
In addition to the above, we have been greatly affected by the quarantine decreed by COVID-19.
