To measure digital signals, we decided to probe a PIR sensor since the sensor outputs a high signal when motion is detected or a low signal. We connected the ground and VCC and hooked up the probe ground to ground and the probe to the OUT pin. As expected, we saw square waves with the peaks representing high output.
To measure analog levels, we decided to probe a joystick because the joystick is comprised of two potentiometers, leading to analog voltages. We used the recommended setup on the datasheet. We only probed the up and down voltages. By observing the oscilloscope graph, we found out that lowering the joystick decreased the voltage and raising the joystick increased the voltage. This meant that potentiometer increases resistance as the joystick gets lower.
