13. Applications and implications¶
What will it do?¶
“Weather Eye” will measure, record and analyze every minute weather data. It will sense the temperature using digital thermometer. Embedded microcontroller will calculate humidity on the basis of dry and wet temperature whiich will be sent on cloud. Cloud service will record and collect the statistics.
Who’s done what beforehand?¶
Sending temperature and humidity data on cloud is not a new idea. Yet most of them have done it using DHT22 sensor which is not durable. Moreover, along with collecting temperature and humidity data on cloud no agriculture institute has observed pests on crops. Hence, the training dataset is not available and will be done at Vigyan Ashram.
What will you design?¶
I will be using Eagle software to design my boards and Fusion 360 to 3D design other components of the project.
1. Electronics Design: I will be using Eagle to design embedded microcontroller board for interfacing and programming.
2. 3D Software: In Fusion 360 I will design other components of the project- i. Digital Thermometer Carrier ii. Project body for Packaging
What materials and components will be used? Where will come from? How much will they cost?¶
Following are the components of the project:
1. DS18B20 Digital Thermometer-
-
ESP8266 Wifi Module
-
Digital Thermometer Holder
-
Acrylic sheets for outer body Packaging
-
Electrnoics: Atmega328p microcontroller, connectors, resistors, capacittors, LEDs etc.
Additionally, I will need to subscribe to a Cloud service. Most of the material is available in the lab. And the cost will be less than 2200rs.
What parts and systems will be made?¶
-
PCB with sensors
-
Digital Thermometer Carrier
-
PLA and acrylic outer body for packaging
What processes will be used?¶
- PCB milling
- Laser Cutting
- Vinyl Cutting
- Soldering
What questions need to be answered?¶
Will the stastics of 2 paremeters temperature and humidity be sufficient to forecast the pest in future?
How will it be evaluated?¶
The accuracy of the project can be evaluated by comparing the temperature data on cloud with manually holding thermometer or some other tempearture measuring device in the same room.
