Week 13 Applications and implications¶
Assignment¶
Propose a final project masterpiece that integrates the range of units covered.
What will it do¶
The pallet lamp has multiple functions. It is a lamp you can place on your night stand or on the kids night stand especially for kids who are scared of the dark. Using a phototransistor as a sensor, the lamp will be able to light up in the dark and go out when the light reflects on it.
Who’s done what beforehand?¶
What will you design?¶
I will design a holder for the coils of the charger, the table.
What materials and components will be used?¶
Materials
-
3 mm wood (need to determine what kind)
-
PLA filemant for coil holder
-
2 coil wireless charger transmitter
Components - RGB led lights
-
Phototransistor
-
Sensor
-
Attiny44 microcontroller
-
Capacitators
-
6 pin header
Where will they come from?¶
They will be bought locally or via Amazon. I will also use components that are available in the lab.
How much will they cost?¶
Product | Unit | Price per unit | Total price |
---|---|---|---|
RGB LED strip | 1 | $ 5.74 | $ 5.74 |
Neopixel ring | 1 | $ 9.95 | $ 9.95 |
PCB wireless charger 2 coils circuit | 1 | $ 15.99 | $ 15.99 |
Wood 3 mm | 1 | $ 2 | $ 2 |
Plug adapter for charger | 1 | $ 2.77 | $ 2.77 |
What parts and systems will be made?¶
-
The table using the lasercutter or cnc milling
-
The coil holder by 3D printing
-
PCB for the lamp by cnc milling
What processes will be used?¶
-
Designing in Fusion 360
-
3D printing
-
Lasercutting or cnc milling
-
Programming the lamps pcb board
What questions need to be answered?¶
-
Which height and length I will use for the table, I already have this in mind but after getting the components I will have the precise lengths
-
How to position the holder
How will it be evaluated?¶
By the given points of the final project assesment
-
Create your own integrated design
-
Demonstrate 2D & 3D modelling capabilities applied to your own designs
-
Select and apply appropriate additive and subtractive techniques
-
Demonstrate competence in design, fabrication and programming of your own fabbed microcontroller PCB, including an input & output device
