Invention, Intellectual Property, and Income

This week we are working on registering our work. I will use Creatice Commons License to do so. It makes it as an open source with options for some restrictions.

Going to their website, I selected that I want a license that makes my work sharable and people can even share their own adjustments over my work. But can not be used for commercial purposes. This comes under the attribution: Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International.

Another option was to register my work as a patent, but that goes more for the innovative projects with new applicable ideas. While my project is just a demonstration for something that exists.

Anyhow, it's good to understand the other attrubutions and their benefits:

1. Attribution-ShareAike

This license gives you all the same rights to use the work as the standard attribution license, with the additional caveat that you also license you work under the same terms. That means that you can use the initial work, and other people can use your work in the same way.

2. Attribution-NoDerives

This license is a little more restrictive. While you can still freely use the work in both commercial and non-commercial work, you must not edit it in any way, in addition to giving proper attribution to the creator.

3. Attribution-NonCommercial

With the Attribution-NonCommercial license, you can use, edit and distribute the work so long as you properly credit the work’s creator. The difference here is that the work cannot be used for a commercial product.

4. Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike

NonCommercial-ShareAlike licensing builds on the standard Attribution-NonCommercial license, with the addition that you work will be licensed in the exact same way.

5. Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerives

The Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs license, which restricts the work from commercial projects, and does not allow any edits to the original work.

The important thing to understand about the Creative Commons Attribution license is that you have to give "appropriate credit" to the creator of the original work. This is the base requirement in every license agreement;

  • The name of the creator
  • A copyright notice if provided
  • A license notice if provided
  • A disclaimer notice if provided
  • A link to the original work

  • Creative Commons License
This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.

As my work is going to be used for demonstration in our initiative Naqsh, then there is no income to be discussed here because our science shows in Naqsh are an open invitation.

    Future Probabilities

The project can still take more upgrades, and since I am planning on using it for shows and demonstrations, I can make it more practical along the way...

    1. The project has no resevour for the discharge water, so as an upgrade, I can create a stand or a table with a built-in tank for the waste water.

    2. The seal of the tank could be upgraded into an automated door rather than a manually removable cap.

    3. The most important upgrade for my applucation, is to make the system functional on a watermill and in addition to that a windmill. This will need me to design an extintion to the system.
