19. Invention, intellectual property and income

  • Objective of this week was to Create and document a license for your final project. Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project.
  • So this week’s assignment was to make/share a plan through which my Project can be marketed or be used to generate business and understand the Licensing System/Methods which could be in favour of the project or its creator.I also need to understand what are the scopes of the project that needs to be evaluated to make it Patentable.

Invention, Innovation and What do I think about my final project ?

  • Here’s what I think about my final project. I completely understand that the project is a prototype with lot of scopes of improvements and optimization. So, what I think is, I should not make any patent on this project well even I wanted to I wouldn’t have got any patent for this because everything that is used in the project is open source almost plus I dont want to limit this project here as I want that evryone who likes the project download the files and modify it. Make it a better work piece (I would be glad if someone does that and acknowledges me for the same).

  • What I believe, for this project is it can have a huge market in Developing countries where people want to raise their standard of living and grow thier own food with climate change having no impact on agriculture. The project can be effectively utilized in Hotel’s Industry as they can provide customers a better ease of chemical free food.

  • My machines will be used to teach students on how to grow their own food. This is just another way to make a food computer which is aligned to MIT food computer concept but using fabacademy skills like CNC cut frame, Satshakit based electronics fab board with integration of Alexa Voice enabled smart device.

Income

  • Right now the project is in it’s intial state, progress can be made to turn it into a more finished product.
  • Also objective for me in fab lab was to learn digital fabrication skills so that i can work on UN sustanability agenda. So objective has been learning and not to create a product to market.

The Business Model

I think its a shame that we talk about a business model. My question for this is as we are born on planet we get everthing for free air we breathe is free, food that we eat comes from the soil, water is free. Everthing we have ever consumed comes free. The problem of current economy mindset is that the very economy is eating up this planet. i don’t want to launch a product that create a revenue stream. My business model is simple Giving is Living. If all humans on this planet start sharing what they have we don’t need a business model for new product. We already have solutions, technology to make a difference in people life. In india alone 60 million of our people don’t have food to eat. When such a large number of people can’t even have luxury to eat food and other people keep wasting so much. What i am inventing is a new business model which does not exists and not taught in any MBA school and college. In that model the poor get the benefit cutting down the middle man in between. For now this project for me is just about learning digital fabrication skills and not to create a business model out of it.
