assignment

Imagined and outlined possibilities and described how to make them probabilities.

The project is thought to provide low energy/long range/low bandwidth communications (LoRa), focused on IoT (Internet of Things) technology.

IoT is a rapid developing technology, with application that include agriculture, work security and environment. The project will aim to generate locally the electicity needed for the LoRa node or for the transmision of data.

The idea is to cover long distances, like a crop field or a marine environment, to gatter the data as humidity, temperaure, wind speed etc., and using it to take desitions about the needs of the crop, for example, or for the water temperature to generate better models for climate change studies.

Of course, the source of the energy harvesting part could be the most abundant in the place where the it will be installed. It could be solar, aeolic, hydraulic or a convination of them.

For the disemination, the idea is to share the ideas and designs, so it could be develped locally according to the needs and resources required for the local application.

At the end, the idea is to generate a network of LoRa nodes that will share the information. The network could be founded by contributions, leasing the data, or finacing by public or NPO funds.

Possibilites and probabilities

Internet of things is here, and each second new devices connect to the network. For sending and receiving data from things, a LoRa node could be very useful. For smart cities, the energy to feed them is not a big problem, but in rural areas the local generation of energy could be a game-changer.

The plan for disemitating this project will be to build a pilot project that could provide IoT captabilities for rural areas, and collecting the data for improvent of watering, for example. The system could be further improved with smart watering, minimizing the use of the liquid.

The client might be the goverment or private growers. Once implemented, this could be used as an example with the results calculated.

There are examples of paid networks using LoRa. The income could come from this model, o as a service to provide the conectivity. In rural areas, the range of transmision could reach 10 kilometers, and the service could be extended to more than one client.

Lean canvas/bussiness model

Problem:

Lack of connectivity for IoT in isolated areas or the sea.

Solution:

Energy harvesting/local energy generation with alternative energy. Low energy consumption. Long range (up to 10 km).

Key Metrics:

Range, energy production, energy consumption.

Unique Value Proposition:

Low cost wind harvesting production.

Channels:

Service trough the air (connectivity).

Target customers:

Goverment, Mining companies, Agricultural producers.

Cost structure:

Cost of installation (set and forget). Low maintenace.

Revenue Model:

Subcriptions to the network. Projects for data management design.
