I looked into the different ways of exposing my project to the public while still making sure I get credited for the work I have done. I believe patent will be a bit overkill since my project is not using entirely new technology. My project is a fusion of a lot of work partly made by others. Therefore I see my work as one part in chain that will be picked up by others and continued eventually. For this kind of purpose I found Creative Commons to be a good solution. I read about their philosophy on their website and found that they do exactly what I was looking for:
I went ahead and made a license on the creative commons website, which I have also put on the main page of my website.
Another way that I would want to share my work is through GitHub. I have been using GitHub a lot myself and therefore I thought it was a nice way to give back to the community. I did not have the time during this week to make a GitHub page but once the Fab Academy is over I would definitely want to make a page where I share not only some of the work I have made in the Fab Academy but also my future projects. Since GitHub is mostly about software it might not be appropriate for all of my final project but it’s definitely something I would want to get started with.
It has never been a goal for me to distribute or make money of my final project but instead to learn as much as possible. I think the above considerations reflect this.
Another thing we had to do in this weeks assignment was to prepare a video clip and a summary slide. I have no experience in editing video but it's something I think i will find interesting. I therefore went ahead and found out which is the best free video editing software. After some time I found Hitfilm Express to be getting a lot of good reviews. Alongside making my final project I have been taking small video clips of the process which I will be making into one single videoclip.
For making of the summary slide I think I will take a good picture of my final project and add some text over it explaining the key features.
