Patent

My project is kind of art piece so that can not be used for industrial purpose. Also it is not the first one that used nes skill or function. So I can't get a general patent. For the design patent also, my project isn't commercially purpose and I don't want to protect people do the similar work with me. so I dicided to make Creative Commons license.

Creative Commons (CC) license

A Creative Commons (CC) license is one of several public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of an otherwise copyrighted work. A CC license is used when an author wants to give people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that they have created. CC provides an author flexibility (for example, they might choose to allow only non-commercial uses of their own work) and protects the people who use or redistribute an author's work from concerns of copyright infringement as long as they abide by the conditions that are specified in the license by which the author distributes the work.

types of license

There is 4 types of license. Creator can select those license and combine.

image

1. Attribution(BY)

Licensees may copy, distribute, display and perform the work and make derivative works and remixes based on it only if they give the author or licensor the credits (attribution) in the manner specified by these.

image

2. Share-alike(SA)

Licensees may distribute derivative works only under a license identical ("not more restrictive") to the license that governs the original work. (See also copyleft.) Without share-alike, derivative works might be sublicensed with compatible but more restrictive license clauses, e.g. CC BY to CC BY-NC.)

image

3. Non-commercial (NC)

Licensees may copy, distribute, display, and perform the work and make derivative works and remixes based on it only for non-commercial purposes.

image

4. No Derivative Works (ND)

Licensees may copy, distribute, display and perform only verbatim copies of the work, not derivative works and remixes based on it.

CC BY-NC-SA

Creator can select those license and combine like this.

I would like to license my work CC BY-NC-SA. It’s Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike, identify the author of original work, permit people to remix, modify or reprocess work for noncommercial use and apply the same license to the secondary work.

Because, i want my work to be considered as art piece. I want to make sure that the author of original work is me. But it is also very favorable for other creators to develop similar or better work. But i don't want to commercialize it.

Plan for any future or potential opportunities for my project

1. I'll share photos on my SNS like instagram and facebook.

2. I'll show my project on my school graduation exhibition.

3. I'll also put my work in exhibition catalogue and collection book.

4. I'll create a website to show my projects and share data and skills with everyone who interested.
