This week's tasks are:
- Choose a possible license for the project to be published under it.
- Develop a dissemination plan and explore future options
- Prepare a slide(1920x1080) and a video(1080p HTML5, 1 minute, 10 MB) of the final project.
Choose the license
I have never thought in licenses before but the most two licenses that I heared about are the common creative and open source so I started to read a little bit more about both of them.
- Open source licenses are licenses that comply with the Open Source Definition (allow software to be freely used, modified) and this goes for the hardware to. Under the open source license there are many types.
- Common creative license is used when an author wants to give people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that they have created.
I already say common creative license on websites like thingiverse where the person can publish his work to be distributed but not for commercial use and I think if I'm going to dissemminate my final project I will go for this type
Also this license is very flixable.you can choose what exactly to do with it to open it for commercial use, close it for commercial use, open for distributing, open for attribution,..... etc
Dissemination plan
I have been working with a business incubator as incubator project manager for a while. This incubator is EBNI IoT incubator. It is specialized in hardware startups working on IoT applications.
We were helping startups to validate their ideas and turn them into successful businesses so and I'm aware that a dissemination plan is not that easy and developping a plan then a business model is the first step that should be made before taking any serious steps.
For this project I have been thinking to make it commericial as I already have my own startup with my husband as a side business which is called Cool stuff
Plan A
- The product: customized lithophane box with the photos that the customer provide .

- Marketing: Through social media specially our Facebook page.
- Target customers:People who are searching for innovative and special gifts or home decoration.
- Production: Upon request and after a deposit.
Plan B
- The product: The final project exactly as it is (The galaxy Box).
- Manfacturing technique: 3D printing for the photos, laser cutting for the enclosure and PCB milling for the electronics production.
- Synchronizing with music: Yes but the cost will be higher.
- Marketing: Through social media specially our Facebook page.
- Target customers:Places like cafes, pops and also individuals
- Production: Making only one or two units to use them as samples in marketing and then produce depending on the customer needs.
