Computer Aided Design

Let’s Talk More About Computer Aided Design

Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computer systems (or workstations) to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. CAD software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing. CAD output is often in the form of electronic files for print, machining, or other manufacturing operations. The term CADD (for Computer Aided Design and Drafting) is also used.

I have used only three softwares

    - Sketch up - Solid works - Photoshop

Sketch up

Think in 3D. Draw in 3D.

Make everything easier

SketchUp is useful from the earliest stages of design to the end of construction. Programming, diagramming, design development, detailing, documentation, RFIs?wherever you need drawings, you need SketchUp Pro.

U can download the software here

SolidWorks

SOLIDWORKS solutions cover all aspects of your product development process with a seamless, integrated workflow?design, verification, sustainable design, communication and data management. The intuitive design interface and integrated software work together and give you the freedom to focus on innovation, thus giving you the possibility to span multiple disciplines with ease. With SOLIDWORKS, companies can shorten the design cycle, increase productivity and deliver innovative products to market faster.

I use solidworks software for vector. But there are allot of software for vector like e.g. Inkscape, Illustrator.

Advantages :- Cheap and vary reliable for academics and industry, Toolbar is well oriented and simple, Quick learning is possible, Wildly used in academics and industry.

Disadvantages:- Fails to makes detailed drawing using raw data, Image rendering comes no where near to CATIA or higher versions, Not a high spec design tool.

These disadvantage is irrelevant considering the cost. It is a universly accepted tool.

Photoshop

If you can think it, you can make it with Photoshop CC, the world?s best imaging and design app. Create and enhance photographs, illustrations and 3D artwork. Design websites and mobile apps. Edit videos, simulate real-life paintings and more. It?s everything you need to make any idea real.

Step 1

I downloaded all the photos which I wanted to edit....... in photoshop

Step 2

I opened all the photos in photoshop and stated Croping, Editing,

Step 3

I added text in on the top on the picture {vynatheya}

Step 1

I started sketching my sketeboard in the software

SketchUp has an inference engine that helps you work in 3D space. The inference engine can also help you find geometric relationships between lines. For example, it tells you when a line you're drawing is perpendicular to another line.

Step 2

I excruded and added a wheel in between the stakeboard.

Identify the path for your extrusion..

  • Draw a face or profile that you want to follow the path. ...
  • Select the Follow Me tool ( ).
  • Click and drag the face that you created along the path. ...
  • Click to complete the Follow Me operation when you reach the end of the path.
  • Step 3

I have done the fillet to all the edges which i liked most.

    Step 4

I labeled all the parts of my project

Type the label text. If your label points to a SketchUp model entity, you can also click the blue down arrow and select content to insert with an Auto-Text tag.

    step 5

I tryed multi color in my sketeboard to look attrative

    Download .sketchup file

Here are some information of Solidwokrs :

    Step 1

First start with a 2D deisgn and dimension everything.

Dimensions. Sketches are displayed in various states. To fully define the sketch, you add relations and apply dimensions using the Smart Dimension tool (Dimensions/Relations toolbar).

    Step 2

    I excruded the sketch

Click Extrude (2D to 3D toolbar), or click Tools > Sketch Tools > 2D to 3D > Extrude, and click in the graphics area to establish the direction of the extrusion. Edit the properties in the Base Extrude PropertyManager. For 2D to 3D conversion, you can specify the depth of a blind extrusion by selecting a sketch entity.

    Step 3

I started making new part of my Skete board. I maked the wheel.

    .

    Step 4

so I oppened the new assemble window to assemble the two parts I imported the files and mated each other.

So to know more information about Assembly... click here

    Download .sld file

    Experience

So I have learnt new things and I found this software very comfortable for simulation and it give you categories and good options to opt.
