EVALUATION DEADLINES:

  • June 11: cutoff for submitting weekly assignments for global review (from this date on, Local Evaluators cannot request more Global Evaluations, so all local reviews must be done/marked)
  • June 13-22: final project presentations (with documentation)
  • June 22: cutoff for global review feedback (from this date on, Global Evaluators close the review, and the time left until
  • July 1st is for Global Evaluators to check students fixes, and make a final decision on Graduation.
  • July 1: cutoff for notifications

Documentation tips

Continuing Student in Bcn

Fab Academy local costs in Fab Lab Barcelona are planned to cover one cycle (from January to July) each year. Continuing students that want to finish their Diploma must be aware of the extra costs:

  • 150€/week > Instructor’s support + Fabrication
  • This only includes access to fabrication and the support of the Instructor and Fab Lab staff to update the assignments and documentation. It does not include Materials*.
  • Either you use 1 day of the week or the whole week, the price is fixed. We are flexible to allocate specific cases, but in general, the costs are not subject to discounts.
  • 100€ > Local Assessment
  • Local Assessment is the process of evaluating the student’s work from their website and via the Nueval App. It is essential that the gross of the work is complete, so the evaluation is done at once. It only covers 1 evaluation cycle.
  • If a student needs to re-do an assignment, and the assignment requires new material, the cost of the material must be covered aside.
  • If a Student disengages for more than 1 year (this means no activity at all via Gitlab or emails, for 1 year after the cycle he/she was enrolled), these prices may vary. The reason for this is that the course changes every year, which means there are always new features to incorporate.

Access to the Fab Lab Bcn

As a student of Fab Academy, you will have the following benefits: · You will be provided with an electronic access card to access the building · You will have free Wi-Fi access. · You will have access to the Fab Lab BCN facilities / machines

Opening Hours:

Fab Academy students have access to the Fab Lab Bcn and the Fab Academy Classroom from Monday to Friday, 15:00hs to 20:00hs.

Prior agreement with Green Fab Lab Coordination, students may use the facilities in our Valldaura Labs.

Saturdays and Sundays, the lab is closed.

It is absolutely forbidden to stay at IaaC overnight.

Please, contact with your local instructors to access to the cloud and create your own student folder inside the FILE STATION > FAB STUDENTS > FabAcademy_2018 folder.

BOOKING SYSTEM

Instructions

  1. Go to Booking System.

  2. Select Service: the amount of time you are booking.

  3. Select Provider: the machine you want to use

  4. Select the Date: only the available slots will show.

  5. Personal data: wee need that to send a confirmation of the appointment and the link to cancel the slot.

  6. To finish, click BOOK NOW

Etiquette

Students must come to the Fab Lab 15 min before their slot time starts in order to load the file for fabrication. Students can book with 5 weeks advance maximum and a minimum of 24 hours before. If a student makes a reservation and does not come, or comes late, the student will lose the slot and may be restricted for further use Only in force majeure cases, students can cancel their booking using the cancellation link in their confirmation email. The student may only use the machine for the time booked.
