The second lecture of Fabacademy 2015 was on Wednesday 4 February at 3 o’clock p.m.
Neil asked to introduce all the Fablab connected, so to have a rapid presentation about all students of Fab Academy 2015. As the title say, this week we were introduce to use graphic 2D and 3D software. After a fast panoramic about the main software, Neil introduced an open source software to 3D, created by him, Antimony. The first assignment for the next week will be use raster and vector software to create a new graphic file and modify an existing file.For my assignment will use GIMP and Inkscape. the second is modeling in 3D the fina project, for me will be very hard but I’ll do my better!

Assignment

Model (draw, render, animate, simulate, ...) a possible final project, and post it on your class page.
I made a new image using tracked and coloring. In the following slide 2 exemples about my work with Inkscape, the first is a modified photo with some graphics patterns, in the second one I developed the logo for my final project. I will cut this logo, during the next module, with the vinil cutter.

For the second exercise I made a 3d model of my final project. I’m starting to zero to use software 123d Design. For the model I designed first the base, than the lateral supports at the end the display. I’m curious about this software, but it’s poor of tools and it’s a stop for the creativity! So I think to use Solid Works, another software viewed during the week, and use it for my final project.

During Fabacademy I was able to gradually improve my skills in the use of 2D and 3D graphics programs , and say that until January I did not have any competence in this regard! This allowed me to shape files for my final project , but also gave me the freedom to do what I want with Solid Works , in fact this software has opened the way for many prospects , even on the drawing 2d for the same software you can export files in many formats , such as DXF files that are real machine , can be used both with the laser cutting with the vinyl cutter . I enclose below the file 2d and 3d of my priogetto final file are fairly simple , but very effective for building modular aluminum structures .
