WORKING PRINCIPLES

In this section I will try to demonstrate the concept that I wanted to apply to the photogrammetric fab scanner project

The test set-up structure is easy and consists of 2 elements:

1 - Rotator Graduated Head - This will help me simulate the movement of a stepper motor. It is the dish where I will place the object I wish to scan. Thanks to the precision of the Rotator Graduated Head I can choose the appropriate angle of rotation and test different set up options. My tests showed that an angle lying between 15° and 20° will produce the best results.

2 - Blocked Camera - I need to simulate the displacement of the camera along a curved line. To do this I attached a line between the camera and the rotary head. With this simple system I can move the camera up and down and maintain the same distance from the object to scan.

PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION

--> 1 - Keep the camera at the same distance from the subject when taking the pictures. ( On reality I detach the line before taking the photo for not have it in the frame )

--> 2 - The Rotator Graduated Head it would help to have a precise upper rotator and maintain 20° degree intervals for the complete rotation of 360°

RESULT

This is the result of the photogrammetry process with the photos taken using this set-up

Post-processing of the images is performed using Photoscan Pro Soft + Blender software.

3D Mesh and Texture - Using Photoscan Pro Soft + Blender

I did not do the post-production myself. My job ended with the creation of the stl file.

Nicola did a fantastic job for the Open Dot Lab and helped everyone in the class whenever he had time; he edited the stl and made this incredible container.
First of all, we obtained the 3D print and this was painted with a primer, sanded, and painted again with a transparent resin.

GREAT JOB NICOLA
